The most frustrating thing, aside from trying to tease out the complexities of Middle East politics and history, is knowing how little we can do to try to ease the tensions. It's like watching a slow motion train wreck.

This is one of those things that the current president has grasped very well. I'm strongly confident that, left alone, Iran's young people (half the population is under 30) will eventually turn the tide and change the country for the better. But it will take years or decades.
