Made me smile. I love the sound of rain on the roof (caught up in a summer shower...drying while it soaks the flowers, maybe we'll be caught for hours waiting out the sunnn)
My aunt & uncle's house in San Francisco had a closed, neglected school across the street for years. It used to be the rusted, paint-chipped depressing-looking old facility that was a real bummer on foggy days (aka 90% of the time). Then last year it was bulldozed, reopened and having the sound of kids playing really changed the neighborhood's atmosphere for the better.

Also, I'm pretty sure it's the train on the waterfront you're hearing. Those buildings allow for quite the echo.
