i don't think he can claim to have invented your product, unless it says so in the contract you guys signed. otherwise, he is taking credit for your work, when technically he is only an exclusive licensee. i'd ask the attorney who drew up the documents.

personally, i think the best course of action is to figure out how to get paid to not complaint. ;)
