Alas, you are geographically incorrect about Persia, which was more or less modern Iran, although they did control most of Mesopotamia and even some of Anatolia at the height of their power. Of course, I haven't seen the movie, so I have no idea how it actually does depict the Persians. However, I'm fairly sure that the majority (or possibly all?) of our sources on this war were written by the Greeks, who were prone to depict the Persians as effete tyrants. This is how we got the concept of "oriental despotism" that still lingers around in archaeology. Of course, the Persian empire was Zorastrian, so I doubt the ayatollahs would like them all that much anyway. . . .

Though if they are saying that we are saying the Persian Empire is Iran, then I guess that would mean that we are saying that their leader is gay.
