knitting.

I was getting a lil' achy knitting. So I decided to try to learn to knit with yarn in my left hand, since I work my right hand for most other activities. I started practicing knit stitches and boy it felt odd. But I eventually was getting the hang of it. I haven't yet tried to purl 'continental ( Read more... )

My hands hurt from knitting too... They kinda always hurt now-a-days, but the funny thing is... They don't hurt when I'm actually knitting. They only hurt later, or when I'm not knitting... Like now D ( ... )

Its about the same price as the knitpicks options. Although this set might be lighter ;D

I still don't know if I want it or not. Its not soo much as to I don't like circulars, as to I can do what any circulars do with dpns, and before I was working with little delicate things (like socks, which is harder to do on circulars I think), and now I'm making tops, which need the flexible cirulars.

(also, a part of this is because I just want new toys ;D)

Mmm...tops. They would come in handy for that. No seams. I tried it once but ended up twisting a stitch somewhere which ruined the whole thing. The thing I don't like about circulars is they tend not to stay flat and still. They like to twist, which can be a problem in the initial cast on when knitting in the round. I suppose with an interchangeable set, that's not as big a deal cause the connectors would be stored flat and possibly be less likely to twist around.

Mmmm..new toys.

After my scarf is finished, I'm going to try experimenting with hats, so I too will need to be knitting in the round, prolly on circulars as I have no big dpns, and it seems odd to knit a round, bulky yarn hat on dpns anyway.

My suggestion is, if you don't yet know what you want, and don't want to spend the money (cause needles can be expensive), just get some cheap dollar store needles in a few sizes and work with those. Or some cheap plastic ones. I don't really knit in the round, so my circulars aren't getting the full amount of use that they could anyway ( ... )

Dishtowels are a good beginner type of knit too. Or if you want to get real fancy, you can try this one http://www.theanticraft.com/archive/lugh06/familyplanning.htm

Ooh...dishtowels. I hadn't thought of that. Come to think of it, I think have some cotton yard that I don't really have a use for...a-ha!

She has a friend who just makes dishcloths fer days. She said she'd take any dishcloths (she's kind of nuts for them). Hehehe...

I've been tempted by the Sugar 'n Cream yarn. Does anyone have any experience with it? It's on sale at Herschnerr's for under 2 buckies a 2.5oz ball. It's cotton and sooo many colors.
