I want a place to complain so what better place than livejournal. So I know that last year I had a really religious roommate but we were still somewhat friends we'd watch movies together and sit around and talk together and for the most part we were very considerate of each others space. I mean it could be worse, but sometimes i'm just really ( Read more... )

maya is right. girl. stand up for yourself. that is the story of roommates. you must establish early that you need study time. and study time= quiet. let her know now before she takes full advantage

amanda (ths is elise by the way) next time she is listening to her music you should just say something like "hey, i don't want to sound rude or anything but do you think you could listen to your music with headphones? its just harder for me to study when its playing" or something, cause she needs to realize that she is not the only one in the room. good luck!

do what Maya and Elise say, or put in a roommate switch request! you might lose that really sweet dorm room though, so it's a toss-up.

ae, are you kidding? why would anyone think this girl is really cool and that you're being uptight!

everyone is right, she is taking complete advantage of you. and it'll only get worse if you don't say something now. who doesn't use headphones?!! after her friends leave, you just be like "hey could we talk about some of the room stuff? now that classes are starting to pick up, could you be plz use headphones when i'm studying and keep the volume low on the tv in the AM bc it wakes me up". maybe she's a heavy sleeper and doesnt realize that other ppl arent.

anywho, you wouldnt sound like a psycho roommate. and even if you did, it doesnt sound like you two are bff anyway so it wouldnt even matter that much. stand up for yourself, ae!

this is kristen posting from elise's lj

I sort of had the same problem last year with my roommate, and I finally said something about it and she stopped. It's so much easier to say something now when you're not about to explode than months later when you're just extremely pissed about it. All you have to do is be like "hey, would you mind using headphones while i'm studying" or something like that. Once you make that first comment telling your roommate about problems you have with them becomes much easier.
