From the Washington Post, a little note for users of FireFox in the Windows environment.

Apparently, the .NET update automatically installs its own Firefox add-on that is difficult -- if not dangerous -- to remove, once installed.

Ouch.

Annoyances.org, which lists various aspects of Windows that are, well, annoying, says 'this update adds to ( Read more... )

Note that it can't be removed, but it can be disabled. Which I have done.

The 'Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant' add-on in Firefox is very easy to uninstall. The add-on is no longer a per-machine component, it's a per-user as it should've been all along. This means you can just uninstall it like every other Firefox add-on. If someone still has the earlier version of this add-on then they should get the update so that they can easily uninstall it. Otherwise, they'd have to do this:

1) Delete the registry key for the extension ( ... )
