I was supremely grumpy today - probably due to the poor sleep I managed to get over the weekend. Certain members of my family think it's greatly amusing to go upstairs and jump on the floor above my room, as punishment for my not going to sleep at a reasonable hour. Har har.
Anyhow, it also didn't help that I found a couple of game-related things on

Heh, I really hope Chris Avellone didn't pull a "Real men don't have emotions, they get trophy cards for bangin' hoes!"
The AyesDyef video is pretty awesome, but after watching epic Frag Videos like Reptile the Movie, Drunken Explosions, and Random Damage, Ayes' video does seem awfully plain, even if you and I get shot in the face.

Yeah. Seems quite an unusual thing for him to say, especially with the odd character relationships he's written in the past. Hence why I think it's been taken out of context, and twisted to be relevant to MTV, which is who the interview was with. Still, doesn't reflect well on the game. The story was the only thing I was really looking forward to in it, cause I find the setting so woefully generic.
I linked the video not so much for its epic nature, but for its relevance. I'm sure if I got shot in the face in Random Damage, I'd link that. :P

That comment != Planescape: Torment script. There was tons of The Nameless One feeling kinda lonely in his wierd little fucked up existence.
Oh, I know, it's just odd thinking of an edited video which is pretty cleanly done as bland.
Also, "Ah, yeah, so if you look in the corner of the frame, that's me double jumping as scout and then getting hit with a mid air pill while Zip destroys the rest of my team, and captures the mid point on CP Wells"

And yes, the whole 'standing still going pew pew' thing bugged me from the outset. My first thought was: "That's going to get old fast."
Also, looking at the fighting, I didn't really get any feel of flow from it. The combat just seemed to be: "hammer your cooldowns as soon as they come up, and twiddle your thumbs for the rest." Seems a step back from the combo/stance based systems that MMOs tend to favour of late - for good reason: they're a little bit more engaging than just thumb-twiddling.
Heh, forgot to sign in.
