It  seems that I will have to miss Southampton's Polar Bear Plunge again this year. It falls on the same day as Sara's birthday party. I did it for the first time because a co-worker said I didn't have the stones and I detest being called a chicken plus it was for charity.  I proved to him I had a whole damn bag of stones since my towel bearer aka ( Read more... )

Superbowl Sunday in Long Beach they always do a Polar Bear Plunge. It benefits the Make A Wish Foundation. I am toying with the idea of doing it...

If you are cold tolerant(I am not) then by all means do it. I will be honest by saying there are health risks and most polar bear plunges make that very clear. However, there are few things that bond people together quicker than plunging yourself in ice cold water and then talking over hot chocolate through chattering teeth. I had a great experience. I love the Southampton plunge but if you decide to do it at Long Beach maybe I will join you. Anything for me is better than football.
