So I actually managed to get the salary I was looking for. It was a paycut from my current position, but I think it is imminently reasonable considering I am going to be working for the state. Right now they are putting paperwork together to ship over to HR and checking on my references. Hopefully I will hear from HR early next week ( Read more... )

Offer in hand, man - make sure you have the bird in your hand before you do anything final.

That said, if you need to, you could point out (without being specific) that the relationship she(?) has created means you really feel it necessary to look elsewhere. Then when you resign two days later, they'll know where to tie it back to.

I know, I know. I am just at the point where I am tempted to resign without a next job, just to be done with my damn boss. And the beauty and symmetry of resigning during our status meeting is tough to ignore.

*sigh*

Maybe the HR dept of a large state run institution will get its act together and get me the paperwork by monday morning.

Aw, I know you know. *hugs* And it is important to recognise the opportunities for poetry in one's life, *grin*. But if you play it cool for just a little longer, you can get out with a totally clean slate. Otherwise she stands to outmaneuver you twice (and frankly, I wouldn't give her the satisfaction).

The poetry of symmetry is beautiful-- but ever moreso if you can see it from high ground. :)
