... Just blew $900.10 in parts...

and

I'm still not done :/
NONE of the pcb's have been ordered.
I am guessing at about another 500 dollars for that.

*pout*
so far I have about a 500 dollar screw up in the expected cost of the bom... mostly because I wanted to "DO IT RIGHT" this time.

well... yeah :/

This was the week for more technical difficulties than usual. St00p1d ferret tried to "save time" by using a PIC-18 pre-programmed with a boot loader, only to learn that the mfgr only used assembler, not Microchips's "C" compiler. I found a web page with directions how to configure the compiler for low-ROM boot loaders, but the web page was broken! I could not download the required config files! Then I tried the "wayback machine" and got the cached copies of the config files. All that just to get to "hello world". I needed that running Monday-Tuesday. It's now Sat and I still have nothing to show for my week's horrros :"<

And the car snapped the brake lines while I was driving, but happily car brakes are "fail safe" and I had enough brake power to get home fine.

http://www.4pcb.com is all I use. They have just gotten qualification for spaceflight, too. Excellent SMT boardhouse, but not the cheapest in the field.

heh.. its funny you mention them.
Yes, I am very familiar with 4pcb. I use their "bare bones pcb" prototyping service for most of what I do. A soldermask would be nice... and it would look professional... but it usually adds a significant cost to the boards. So, for the test system boards, they are just raw, no frills.

::huggles:: I'm sure you'll eventually get it right if you keep up the work. Don't let a few temporary problems drag you down.
