I'm convinced, at this point (after buying several items that have been broken right out of the box) that companies don't do Q&A testing anymore. The consumer IS the tester, and if it works, good, if it doesn't, it's cheaper to send somebody a new whatzit than it is to test them first. (And all the money saved can go to buying the CEO another house and boat in the Bahamas).

Because of the house construction, I've bought a lot of tools and whatnot lately, and about every 5th thing I buy is DOA right out of the package :(

Irony -

The guy who requested the change gets run over by a trailer with a failed braking system that has the change he asked for.

On-board lithium battery to kick the MOSFET's a** when the regular power goes low? Or one of those large-capacitance-in-a-small-can devices to shove the gate into the stratosphere? Bummer!
