Sending suit -to- hotel: also put on the box your arrival date. I'd suggest using UPS or FedEx Ground because both have detailed tracking online and are reliable as to when things arrive. When you get there: if they can't find it, check with the loading dock, the catering division -and- the front desk.
Sending it back: Do you have a FedEx account or a UPS account? You can just put labels on the box and give it to shipping and receiving on Monday. If you don't have an account, you can get to a FedEx/Kinkos or a Mailboxes, Etc: there should be one near the hotel (check their websites). If all else fails, you can use my FedEx ground account and ship it back. Just let me know if you need it (I arrive Friday and will be staying at the con hotel (the Doubletree).
Thank you so much for the reply. I will proceed with shipping to the hotel tomorrow. And as for the return shipment, I do not have an account, but will attempt to use a UPS or fed ex, that Smash tells me is near by... i dont want to impose on anyone if I can help it, but the offer of assistance is greatly appreciated.
I really look forward to saying hello again... I know my journal has not been much of a pleasure to read of late. I am really hoping this year changes that around to being more 'care free' (or at least with fewer long term obligations)
I don't suit, and I don't talk to many that do, but I've read through enough LJ's to see:
Yes, they can be shipped to hotels. Yes, they will hold it untill you pick it up. Yes, there may be associated holding and picking up charges based on your hotel. Yes, they might even help you ship it back when you're ready.
Definately contact your hotel perhaps a month or more beforehand and make sure you understand their policies on this sort of thing. Make sure you have a room and have paid a deposit on it, yadda yadda yadda. And be sure to have a good time when you get there :).
Shipping? Did someone say shipping? Now you're right up my alley since I spend fifty hours plus a week at a trucking company. :)
Get several quotes, I have to agree Fed Ex ground or UPS will probably be your best option. Make sure you have all the measurements of your package and an exact weight as long as knows what accessorials you need like Inisde Pick Up, NOTIFY before delivery, etc....etc....
You may want to check out Integres.com (I use them) as well. THey specialize in air freight.

Yes, anything oversized will be expensive and unavoidable, that's why I always suggest getting multiple quotes. Most of the major companies DHL, UPS, FED EX, etc all offer similiar features like package tracking. It really depends on how important price really is, or is "trust" more important. Do you trust that company with your things?

They could combine the surface area of their ears, you see, to carry anything.
It would be beautiful.
At any rate, good luck.. :)
