Get as much humor and enjoyment out of this trip as possible!

I don't think I've ever ever ordered room service, but now you're making me want to try it sometime.

Room service is a ripoff and very silly. I usually do it once a trip, on my arrival night, just to pamper myself after airports and shuttles and lugging suitcases. The worst thing about room service is the need to stay in decent clothing until they arrive, and then put something back on for when they come to collect the tray or cart. :)

This morning, I intend to scope out the neighborhood so I can find cheaper food to bring back to my room and eating in my jammies.

I actually have been enjoying your posts and your pics, but not commenting. You know me, the original lurker of doom. Your pictures actually came out great, I thought. Although I look like the psycho pron reader that I am...

Mmmmm ... room service. How I love room service and that soup sounds great.

Hope you have a good time and people don't annoy you!

What's the name of that novelty store that has the Jane Austen action figures? Was it Archie McPhee?

I think that might have been the name. It was *huge,* and they had a wedding registry (evidently for couples who don't need any necessities). I was only half listening, you must understand, until they started talking about the action figures. :) Here I've given away most of my LotR action figures, yet I'm obviously still VERY susceptible!

Perhaps your bosses should know that for you, a trip to San Fran isn't necessarily a perk of the job. Some time off at home might be though. I know your bosses have been very understanding and helpful before this, perhaps if they know a bit more of the realities of travel for you these days, this won't happen again.

I hope the food is fabulous and that someone very carefully takes you out for some good touristy views and some excellent Chinese (if that is good for you) and loads you down with some fabulous California fruit, Napa Valley wine and cheese (which tastes better with the above) and some seafood!!! Love San Fran.

You take care of yourself woman.

Mmmmm, you've made me hungry with that listing of foods... I'm still on Chicago time, so I've been up for hours now with noplace to go/nothing to do.

I blame myself and my "let's pretend to be normal" attitude for me being here, and for any discomfort it causes. Things aren't normal, but I really can't blame the bosses for not realizing/noticing. They see me every day, but they don't really see me at all.

Actually, we're having a pretty serious drought here right now. But you should do your best to enjoy our town anyway!

Ah ha! That explains it. I didn't want to ask anyone "is it always so brown at this time of year?" Seemed rude. All that rain that's been falling on the midwest and causing floods is stuff that's bypassed California!
