The first downside to sharing one rental car among three people rears its ugly head. The current dinner plans are to eat somewhere we can watch the Michigan State basketball game.
Your post reminded me of a trip I took to NYC a few years ago with my boss and a couple coworkers. The boss wanted to take us to the ESPN restaurant in Times Square because he honestly believed it was one of the most awesome places in Manhattan. The food was palatable and he paid for our beer(s), but everything else about it was awful. It was incredibly loud because the disproportionate number of men crowding the place felt the need to shout at the sporting events displayed on the giant television screens, as if their cheers and jeers would make a bit of difference in the games' outcomes.
That sounds horrible. For me, it ended up not being too bad. They just asked for a booth at Texas Roadhouse where we were in sight of the TVs at the bar and then stayed after we were done eating maybe another 15 minutes until they felt like MSU had a decent lead. It was much less traumatizing than I initially feared.

I will NEVER return to that place.
