open letter to Scott K and those who know him

For the past two years I have watched a dear friend of mine suffer in an increasingly abusive relationship with Scott Krywanczyk. I'm writing this letter to create some public accountability for his behavior, which has grown increasingly violent and is unacceptable in any community

Thank you for writing this, though I'm dismayed that you had to. Our communities are just learning how to create safety and accountability in new ways that don't involve oppressive forces like the police, and I think that what you've done here is an important part of doing that. So I second what you've written.

I also think that as we read this it's important for us each to be self-reflective, to recognize how we've enacted or enabled violence ourselves (be it physical or not) and to hold ourselves accountable, too. I know that's part of what this letter has made me do.
