A butch friend of mine is getting married and is trying to find a suit. Does anyone know a good tailor or suit vendor who will work with butches and make them feel comfortable in a man's suit? Close to New York would be good...

But really any tailor will be happy to do this, in my experience

I've had fine experience buying suits at Century 21 and Express, but those were just off the rack. The tailoring I got done on them at random tailors has been fine, but I always feel like I'd love to work with someone who specializes in making man style suits for someone with a body like mine (a truly unfair amount of curves for someone who doesn't really want any!) Maybe it doesn't make much of a difference?

And though I do understand how nice it would be to go to a tailor who specializes in men's clothes on women's bodies, honestly any good tailor should be able to give you what you want as long as there's good communication between you and they're skilled at what they're doing.
I am also getting married (summer '11) but I'm probably gonna do linen suit pants with a loose silk or linen shirt of some sort, not a full-on suit. I'll likely look for the linen pants from a women's store because I sometimes find that women's pants that look like men's pants end up looking better on me and don't require expensive tailoring, but we'll see. My dream is to get a custom-made shirt, but I doubt I'll actually do that.

My hesitancy about marriage is only partially my resistance to the institution--a fair amount of it is also having no clue what to wear!! ::blush::
