The Fire

It didn't start off that bad. A whiff of smoke in the air isn't uncommon in this area this time of year. My first thought was 'damn, this is going to make running suck.' Update: half of West Kelowna - a town of about 29,000 - is under evacuation order now. And remember how I said it wouldn't jump the lake? Well, it looks like it did, albeit briefly. A spot brush fire in a wooded park fairly near my house broke out earlier. They dropped 5 loads of fire retardant on it and it seems to be under control now. It didn't reach the treeline, fortunately, although it (and the airplanes) did spook a ranch-full of horses.

I had my first brush with forest fires this winter. They can be scary. I'm just glad you and Heather are all right.
