approaching harvest

today I drove out to the ranch to look at the wheat.  It was much less ripe than I expected for this time of year.  I saw 12 deer on the place and that was only driving the outer boundary.  I also saw a coyote, several hawks, and a little cottontail.  It has been a very strange year.  The frost got all the apples, pears, cherries, and plums.  The

Oh, no! I'm so sorry, Lorraine. I hope you get your hands on some of that stuff before all the critters chow it down.

I'm afraid I'm growing nothing more substantial than a few herbs this year.
