Frazzled brain

Oct 12, 2011 10:42

Well, I almost came to tears today when I was working on my newest post --yes, I'm plugging it!  The tears weren't about the post, but in trying to figure something out that I just haven't been able to.  It's been a long tough learning curve.  But speaking of the post--for those of you who are interested in finding local farms, etc.  I've posted ( Read more... )

I might possibly be able to help with the Wordpress question, Lorraine. (If you're out there, Dot, do NOT laugh!) I have issues I haven't been able to resolve but I muddled through some stuff so might be able to help. And I totally get the tears...I shed some (and yanked out hair, too).

I'm glad you have a new story brewing in that big heart of yours.

Aw thanks so much, Melodye. I've got lots of confidence in Tracy, but I might take you up on your offer...you know, if Tracy's too busy or something. :)

Tracy! You'd save me from a lot of frustration if you could figure this one out. So here's the problem--you know when you add links you can rate them to put them in the order you want. I'm putting my events links in order of when they're happening, but when I want to add an event that is, say, number 3 (third down on the list,) right now I have to change the rating on every other event. Is there any way I can put a rating on one and have the others change automatically? Ideally, wouldn't it be great to just be able to drag and drop?

Oh, Lorraine, I'm sorry about the tears. Been there. I don't know the answer (I'm glad you posted it here!) but will try to take a look. You might want to ask their support team. Or google something like "wordpress links rankings" and see if you hit on something as somewhere somebody was sure to have asked that question.

Good to see you, and hear of brewing stories: we need to get back to that! xo

The search for the answer was what got me so frustrated. I'm actually good at researching things, but honestly, the way WP writes instructions is not clear and to me, the way it's set up is not very intuitive. But that said, it's a good blogging site for sure. And I'm sure you've had some of your own frustrations, but boy oh boy is your new blog beautiful! Oh yes, let's brew some stories together. I hope your writing is going well. xo

I get horribly frustrated with most things "computer", but I've discovered that if you go into a store that sells computer stuff at a time when they're not too busy, and you look for a young geeky type, you can often get help with a computer problem. These kids seem to know everything, and they also seem to enjoy sharing. And if you think you're going to need lots of help on future problems, ask if they or a friend would be interested in helping for a nominal fee. It's nice to have someone to fall back on.
Good luck!

This made me smile, Barbara! You're right about those computer kids knowing everything. And really, I bet if I asked my son--he'd figure it out. Hmm, especially if there's money involved...or at least a bacon cheeseburger! :)

Wordpress frustrates me too...which is why I don't spend much time there (sigh). I hope you got it all figured out :)

I feel better knowing that I'm not the only one who is frustrated by WP. And no, I don't have it figured out yet. I'm hoping Tracy has an answer for me! :)
