You're ex-LDS (apologies for the lurking)?

This isn't prop 8 related but, during election time, some of my relatives and their church friends posted anti-Obama blogs with things like, "How can we trust his commitment to our values?" and I wanted to yell at them about McCain's extramarital affair! So ridic.

No worries. I've seen your name here and there on other LJs. We've lots of friends in common.

Anyway, yep, ex-LDS, though not formally so, yet. The response from SLC (Salt Lake) was some really nice literature, asking me to reconsider but referring me to my local clergy. Haven't heard anything from them yet.

And yeah, the hypocracy is mind boggling. Family values? Right.

Some people claimed to my mom (who is still a member, but not active), that the church never told people how to vote. Except for the fact that they had been bugging her about voting Yes on 8 the last several times they'd visited. My niece stopped going to church during the election because she didn't want to hear any more about how they wanted her to vote.

Thanks for the reminder that I need to follow up on this.
L.
