Interesting - in the deck I'm working on, DEATH was DEATH, rather than a transformation. I made that choice though, because of the high mortality rate we have, in just being us.

I have the luxury, because I write descriptions rather than make cards, that I can include more than one meaning for a card, which can get tricky in terms of images. Our high mortality rate bothers me a lot sometimes, while other times I try to put it out of my mind because I can only do so much and sometimes it gets kinda overwhelming.
I don't know if you've seen the death tarot icon that dawnwolf uses, but you might like it. Look at her user icons page. She mentioned where it came from when she started using it, but I don't remember. Anyway, I really like the image, for reasons other than tarot.
One of the things that delayed my transition was I kept hearing people transitioned at the point of 'transition or die'. Not being self-destructive, this left me in a bit of a quaandry until I realized I could rephrase it by equating my current scenario as 'existing' but transition would lead to 'living'. By 'existing', I was years behind where I should be in many ways. Live or exist ... ok, so my last remaining barrier was removed
