I. TITLE: Inaugural Speech of President Benigno S. Aquino III

II.INTRODUCTION:

New faces, new people, and big changes, these are the things that are about to happen in our country. Back from May 10, 2010; the first ever automated election occurred in the Philippines. People in their 20s’, 30s’, adults, and senior citizens had voted for their favored candidate and showed that they still believe for a great development to our nation. In this process, new pioneers who were chosen by the people must serve to its full extent and be of guidance to our fellowmen. One of the most anticipated oath that that have been said is the president’s pledge. Words of promises, big changes, and great development are expected to happen and one way to express this is through “Inauguration”.

III.SUMMARY:

June 30, 2010 is one of the essential days that would definitely mark our history. President Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III, the son of late President Corazon Aquino and one of our Filipino hero Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino, have taken his Inauguration at the Quirino Grandstand. Many prominent officials, representatives, and foreign dignitaries from other countries came to witness this momentum. The speech of President Aquino mainly focuses on “Destroying Corruption as the Key to Development against Poverty”.

“The first step to destroy poverty lies in the government” - - - a statement given by the president which means to offer honesty and loyalty in serving our countrymen. He would start this within himself and will try his very best to served as a role model to every Filipino. He tackled about the issue of “Education” in which he promised to sustain the needs of every public school. Gradually, he will lessen the lack of infrastructures for transportation, tourism, and trade; strengthen the Armed forces and the police to maintain peace and order within the society, and to fight corruption in the Bureau of Customs. The funds collected will be used to make the following objectives for our country: “To have a quality education; including vocational education for those who haven’t reach college”, “Improved public health services like PhilHealth for all”, and “A safe home for every family”.

One of his main goals is to create jobs for the Filipino people to avoid looking further for employment abroad. He also mentioned helping the farmers in irrigation system, extension services, and their rights to sell their products at its best possible prices directly to their consumer. He also aims that our country, Philippines will become attractive for investors. With this, he will implement stable economic policies and provide jobs for our people.

“There can be No Reconciliation without Justice”. The president believed that when someone committed a crime, he/she must face its consequences. By providing true and complete justice for all, there would be a sense of equality between the rights of the rich and the poor people. He also believed that each citizen has the right to be informed regarding public matters.

Lastly, President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III said that he will still continue his legacy;

“If there is No Corruption, then Poverty is abolished”. The main pledge of the president to Filipinos is that his purpose in life is to be an instrument of God that will serve his countrymen and not to be served. He will try to give his loyalty and service up to his last breath.

IV. REACTION:

For me, there’s nothing extraordinary about the “Inauguration of President Benigno Simeon Aquino III” because as I observed most of the elected president in our country promised big changes or reformation during their “Inauguration day”.

But sad to say that until now we’re still longing for this said development. I hope and pray that in this new administration, “The Aquino Administration”, we can truly achieve the big improvement that we have desired for a long, long time.

Hopefully President Noynoy will sincerely do his duties and responsibilities and fulfill his promises. Many people believed in his capacity to rule our country and to give Filipinos a better living. Now that his officially proclaim as our new president, it’s time for him to prove to his fellow countrymen that he’s worthy or deserving of the highest position we entrusted to him.

As good Filipino citizens, we also have the duty and responsibility to our country. So, let’s help our new president in everything he does. I believe that it’s easy for us to achieve our goals if we have to unite and cooperate with one another.
