Hey! How hard IS that course? The description looks like its going to rape me, so help me out! I have to take that course and I don't think theres a way around it if im going to specialize in communications.

Hey anonymous,

I can't imagine the course forcing itself upon you, by I must say, it's one of the hardest courses that I've ever taken, in terms of both complexity and workload. Crap, and I hate being reminded of the absolute tedium of conducting and coding your original research (don't do a content analysis, just don't).

Essentially, you plot out an original communication studies research project, which you conduct independently, while learning a bunch of different research methods. The deadlines can be tight and because each person's research is different, sometimes you're research will need to progress quicker than the prof can teach the methods that you'll need to use. I failed one of the assignments (the literature review) and my exam mark wasn't worth hanging up on the fridge, but I got out of the class without having a finger laid upon me.

You're right, if you're specializing there's no way around this course, but if you're thinking about graduate studies in communication, this course will give you a leg up.
