Current Comm Status

Hey, Losers!

So I've been watching the comm for the last few months and I've seen a distinct lack of participation. We have about 40 participating members registered (I'm ballparking here), but we have only about 4 members actually prompting and participating. illfindmyway has been posting a comment/monthly prompt for the past three months, but hasn't gotten ( Read more... )

So, initially I didn't participate because I don't like claiming prompts when no one else can claim them once I do -- my writing isn't that reliable.

And then I basically moved to Dreamwidth. If the comm were on Dreamwidth, and if prompts could be claimed by more than one person, I'd be a lot more likely to participate.

Quick question: if you close the comm, do you mean to delete it, or just close it to new prompts/fills so that old ones are still available to readers?

Timing was just off. This is up against several other big bang or fiction exchanges (including the losers ante-up exchange).

I chose "I intend to participate and will claim a prompt" even though I've already claimed one (although I will not be claiming another), because there wasn't a "I'm working on it" option. I like the prompts and the comm, I just don't have the time to do mini prompts throughout a month or so. So I'm not that active in fandom anymore, but I do find myself doing fic exchanges or big bangs (so to spreak), so I would be sad if this comm went away. But I can understand not wanting to put the effort into it when you're not getting a return.

If you do close the comm, can we still write for whatever prompt we chose? I'd hate to have those that were claimed disappear into the ether.

I'd like to participate as well, but I agree with Zillah about the claims. AS far as I am concerned I have no problem sharing a prompt with someone. No two authors will ever write the same story. :)

I voted for I intend to participate and will claim a prompt even though I already did but I didn't see a better option to pick.

Honestly, the monthly prompts just haven't been inspiring enough for me but I did always look at them. Since it is a prompt for an entire month, maybe there should be three small prompts or something? Except I guess that would just be creating more work for something that's already not getting any results.

But I don't see why this entire comm should be deleted. This fandom is not dead. There's a new story related to the Losers posted somewhere almost every week, even if it's a drabble from fic_promptly.

I have to agree with what other people are saying. The timing is kinda bad for most people since it's the holidays and other challenges have just been launched, including one for this exact same fandom on DW which now seems to be a more popular website for some people who don't like putting up with LJ's changes. Maybe if this challenge was pimped more and on different websites such as DW, FF, and even DA?
