I find it amazing how quickly people eat up really shitty poems written by 14 year old suburban white kids about how depressing their life is "Mom, why wouldn't you take me to the candy store? I absolutely agree with everything you said.
if the poem isn't full of Hawthorne Heights-esque lines about the slitting of a throat and a descent into a preteen depression about high school then people are quick to judge it or dismiss it all together.
it's incredibly unfair to poets who actually try to incorporate more realistic images into their work.
fuck that, just keep doing what you're doing.

Jim, you're a very creative person and you have the balls to say things others wouldn't even try to say. People are dumb and they'll dismiss anything they're not willing to read/hear. Fuck them. Knowing you, it shocks me that you really care at all about what other people think of your poetry. Not giving a shit = you... and let's try to keep it that way.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to listen to Lewis Black, "Rules of Enragement".
