Ch.26

“Jin-sensei! Good morning,” Emi greeted Jin as she and Kame entered the pre-school.
“Good morning,” Jin smiled at both of them.
“Jin-sensei, guess what?” Emi grinned.
“What?” Jin asked.
“I’m going to stay at my grandparents’ house today!” Emi exclaimed.
“That’s cool,” Jin replied.
“Hn! I can’t wait!” Emi said.
“I’ll pick you up and then we’ll leave,” Kame patted her head.
“Ok,” Emi said, “Bye bye!”
“See you later sweetie,” Kame smiled as Emi ran inside the pre-school.
“She’s sleeping over at her grandparents?” Jin asked.
Kame nodded, “They wanted to spend some time with her so they take her on a weekend once a month.”
“Oh….so you got plans for tonight?” Jin asked.
“Actually, yes, I’m having a small get-together at my place, you can come if you want,” Kame replied.
“Ok,” Jin smiled.
“You can invite Nishikido and your other friend too, if you want,” Kame suggested, “So you won’t get bored….”
Jin laughed, “Alright then, I’ll get Reio too, if that’s ok.”
Kame nodded, “Sure, just not too many people.”
“Ok,” Jin grinned.

“I can’t wait for tonight!” Rina exclaimed, grabbing a few cases of beers.
Kame nodded, “Yeah, but you didn’t have to come with me.”
“Of course I had to! I love shopping for anything!” Rina grinned, putting some more cases of beers in the cart.
Kame rolled his eyes, “It’s going to be small, not too many people are coming, Rina, stop with the beer.”
“Ok, ok,” Rina muttered, “Let’s get some chips!”
“Who exactly is paying for all of this?” Kame frowned as they searched for the chips.
“I’ll pay half?” Rina replied.
“Ok, then,” Kame nodded, “So, how are things doing?”
Rina frowned, “What do you mean?”
“Love life?” Kame asked.
Rina grabbed a few bags of chips and dumped them in the cart, “Do I ask about your love life?”
“You used to…a lot,” Kame replied.
“But I stopped,” Rina pointed out.
“Aw, come on, I saw Akanishi-kun last night, he was following you around like a puppy,” Kame smiled.
“What happened to no kitchen romance?” Rina asked.
“Nothing really,” Kame muttered.
“And yet, you’re trying to set me up with your trainee?” Rina frowned.
“But he isn’t a trainee anymore,” Kame replied.
“Kazuya….” Rina muttered.
“I’m not going to force you into anything, all I’m saying is try,” Kame said.
Rina sighed, “Fine, I’ll see what happens.”
“Great because he’s invited tonight,”” Kame muttered.
“WHAT?!” Rina exclaimed, “KAZUYA!!!”
“It’s not my fault! Jin invited him!” Kame replied.
“Who invited your boyfriend?!” Rina crossed her arms.
Kame gave her a cheeky smiled, “Sorry?”
Rina pouted, “Not good enough….”

“Grandma!!!” Emi ran up to Mrs. Kamenashi and hugged her.
“Emi-chan, how are you, honey?” Mrs. Kamenashi asked.
“Great!” Emi exclaimed.
“Hi mom,” Kame said while taking Emi’s bag out of his car.
“Oh, Kazuya, how are you?” Mrs. Kamenashi asked.
“Ok, nothing new,” Kame replied.
“Emi-chan, I made some cookie for you,” Mrs. Kamenashi said to Emi.
Emi’s eyes lit up, “Really?”
Mrs. Kamenashi nodded, “Their in the kitchen.”

Without any other words, Emi ran inside the house. Kame shook his head as he watched Emi run.

“You could say-“
“Thank you, grandma!!” Emi yelled.

Mrs. Kamenashi laughed and let Kame inside the house. Kame went to the living room and sat down on the couch, placing Emi’s bag besides him. Mrs. Kamenashi went to the kitchen and placed some cookies on a plate and walked to the living room and placed it on the coffee table then sat down.

“Don’t eat all of the cookies Emi,” Kame called out.
“I won’t!” Emi giggled from the kitchen.
Kame shook his head.
“Don’t worry, I hid most of them,” Mrs. Kamenashi smiled.
Kame rolled his eyes, “Like always. So, where’s dad?”
“At work. He’s sorry he couldn’t leave earlier,” Mrs. Kamenashi said.
“It’s ok, I’ll see him when I pick up Emi tomorrow,” Kame replied.
“How’s work?” she asked.
“Fine….no problem at all,” Kame lied.
She sighed, “That’s good. You aren’t overworking right?”
Kame shook his head, “No.”
She slightly smiled, “I know how much it means to you, if there is any problems-“
“You don’t have to worry, mom,” Kame interrupted, “Please don’t.”
“I know, I love you honey,” She said.
“I love you too, mom,” Kame muttered, looking at his watch, “I better go.”
Mrs. Kamenashi nodded, “Ok, we’ll see you tomorrow.”
Kame nodded, “Emi, I’m leaving.”

Emi ran out of the kitchen. Kame bent down and helped all the cookie crumbs off her face.

“No more cookies or you’ll get a tummy ache,” Kame said.
Emi nodded, “Hn! Bye bye!”
Kame smiled, “Have fun sweetie.”

Emi nodded as Kame left his old home.

Kame crossed his arms, glaring at all the people in his apartment. He began to tap his foot when someone snuck behind him.

“Boo!”

Kame jumped in surprise and then turned around to see Jin grinning at him.

“Did I scare you?” Jin smirked.
“Not the time!” Kame exclaimed.
“What’s wrong?” Jin frowned.
“This!” Kame replied, “This was supposed to be a SMALL get together NOT an out of control party!”
Jin placed his hands on Kame’s shoulders and began to massage them, “Relax. This isn’t out of control. Just because there are more people than expect, don’t let it ruin the mood.”
“When I find out the person who invited all these people, they’re going to get killed,” Kame growled.
“R-relax!” Jin nervously replied.
Kame sighed, “Ok….nothing to worry about, right?”
Jin nodded, “Right! Just grab a beer and relax. You know what? I’ll get us some.”

Jin released Kame’s shoulder and went to the kitchen to grab some beers. Meanwhile, Kame saw Ueda, Yuichi, and Reio talking so he walked over to them.

“Hey, guys,” Kame smiled.
“Hey,” Yuichi and Reio said.
“Hey, what happened to small?” Ueda asked.
Kame shrugged, “I honestly don’t know who invited half these people.”
“That’s ok,” Yuichi replied, “I don’t mind.”
“As long as we’re all having a good time, right?” Reio asked.
Both Ueda and Yuichi nodded, “Yeah!”
“Oh, is your lawyer friend here?” Ueda asked Kame.
“Jin said he’ll invite him,” Kame replied.
“Who?” Jin appeared next to Kame and handed him a beer, “Ryo? Yeah, he’s here.”
“Oh, I didn’t ‘know Ryo was here, I thought only Yamapi came,” Reio said.
“He’s here,” Jin replied.
“Thanks,” Kame muttered as he opened the beer.
“Oh, ok,” Ueda nodded.
“Why?” Yuichi asked.
Ueda shook his head, “No reason….just wondering.”
Yuichi rolled his eyes, “Yeah right.”
Kame frowned, “What’s going on?”
“I think our little friend here has a crush,” Yuichi teased.
Kame’s eyes widened, “Really?!”
Ueda slightly blushed, “I need to use the bathroom.”
Jin laughed, “He’s by the kitchen if you’re looking for him!”

Ueda glared at Jin before he left towards the bathroom. Yuichi, Kame, Jin laughed.

“You don’t want Tatsuya to get angry at you, Jin,” Kame said.
Jin shrugged, “I’ll just use Ryo-chan on him.”
Yuichi laughed, “That would probably work.”
“Aw poor Tat-chan,” Kame shook his head.
“Have you seen Koki and Taguchi?” Yuichi asked Kame.
Kame nodded, “They were near the balcony last time I saw them. Why?”
“I need to talk to Koki about something and I haven’t seen Taguchi yet,” Yuichi replied, “Better go say hi.”
“Ok,” Kame muttered.
Before leaving, Yuichi patted Kame’s shoulder, “Don’t worry, we’ll see each other again before I leave.”
Kame chuckled, “Yeah.”
”I should go,” Reio muttered.
Kame frowned, “Why?”
“Oh well, you’ll see soon,” Reio replied, “Bye!”

Reio went off to the kitchen. Kame turned to Jin, who was drinking his beer. Then, someone bumped into him. He turned again and saw Rina looking down.

“Rina?” Kame said, making Rina looking up at him.
Rina gasped loudly, “Kazuya-chan~!!!”
Kame flinched, “Rina, you reek of alcohol!”
Rina covered her mouth, “Sorry!”
“Don’t get too drunk,” Jin told her, “You might do something you’ll regret.”
”To the market!” Rina exclaimed.
Kame shook his head, “Whatever, I’m going to see what happened to Ueda.”

Jin nodded and watched Rina and Kame leave. He frowned and followed Rina out the door.

“Didn’t you hear what I said?” Jin asked Rina.
Rina turned around, “W-why are you following me?”
“You aren’t going to get more beers right?” Jin frowned.
“…..No…..I want chocolate! Yes! Sweet, sweet chocolate~” Rina giggled.
“Do you think I’m stupid or something?!” Jin exclaimed, “Come on.”

Jin grabbed a hold of Rina’s left arm and trying to pull her back inside. What he didn’t notice was the bump on the floor causing Rina to trip over it. Feeling something behind him, Jin turned the moment she tripped causing the two to collide. Jin blinked a few times, then his eyes widened when he felt Rina’s lips on his.

*** A couple of minutes earlier ***

After finding Ueda having a conversion with Ryo, Kame decided not to disturb them and started to look for Jin. He started asking around, when no one said they had seen him, he noticed that the front door was opened. He walked towards the elevators and heard voices. He carefully peeked before walking closer. Then, he swallowed hard when he saw Jin holding Rina by the arm and kissing her. Tears formed under his eyes.

“I guess it was too good to be true…..”

And with that, he returned to his apartment.
