Doctor Who/Time Team, Six, Evelyn, Mick, "Unexpected Visitor"

"A most unusual find in a barrow," Mick exclaims as their flashlights illumine the figures. "Upright statues facing each other?"

"They've wings," Tony gasps. "Angels, perhaps?"

"Completely foreign to Bronze Age iconography," Mick grumbles. "Were it not for this tumulus being completely undisturbed for centuries, I'd cast doubt upon their provenance."

"Fakes?" asks Tony. "Their pointed teeth are rather unpleas--"

"Shut off those cameras NOW," a new voice interrupts their musings. Everyone turns to see a curly-haired man clad in a garish, multi-coloured, long jacket, accompanied by a bespectacled matron.

"Beg pardon but who are you?" asks Tony. "How did you--"

"Never mind all that," the woman advises. "Please do as he says, for safety's sake."

Given that it's based on 10 minutes of researching who/what Evelyn & Time Team are, I'm surprised it's even remotely comprehensible.

I have no idea what Time Team is (beyond the above explanation), but I adored this.

I just realized that my American-ness destroyed the whole effect by using "flashlights" in the 1st sentence instead of "torches".

I wouldn't worry - I once used the word 'skerrik' and didn't realize till friends from both the US and the UK queried that it's an Australianism...

Having three of them (my british fandoms, my American ones, and, errr, my Aussie brain) makes life fun sometimes.
