[MaruBaru] Sunset

He didn’t know how he ended up here, and he didn’t know why he was in this place, but it didn’t take long for his brain to shut up anyway. In front of him, the sunset, orange, red and purple, beautiful, and just under the sun, the ocean, shining and showing back the colors of the sky. The wind was fresh but not cold, and the only sounds around were the waves crashing on the shore and the breeze blowing.
He didn’t remember how he got in this car, nor did he know how he ended watching a sunset on the beach, and he wished that, somehow, he could whine about it, ask questions, go mad a bit maybe; but he didn’t. He just stood there, his eyes lost in the wonderful and warm colors of the fading day, his mind still kind of fuzzy from the nap he was taking until a few seconds ago, unsaid words and feelings twirling in his soul and body.
When his brain got used to the situation enough, he turned and watched as the man next to him was staring at the sun too, his sunglasses on the top of his head.
- Why did you bring me here?
- It’s relax time, Shibuyan. Now hush and enjoy.
He still stood staring at the man, his long hair flying a bit around, his eyes reflecting the lights and colors of the scenery in front of them.
- You’re beautiful.
His lover turned and smiled, his hand reaching out to caress Subaru’s cheek tenderly. The older one could only melt in the soft fingers, his eyes soon closed as a relieved sigh passed through his lips. Now he felt relaxed, yeah.
- Do you miss him? Do you wish he was here with us?
Opening his eyes again, he saw the uncertainty in the other man’s eyes. His heart throbbed at that, feeling that the amount of love his friend had for him was totally overwhelming him - but, in the same time, he couldn’t live without it.
- I do miss him, but as long as you’re here, it’s okay.
- Do you wish it was him here, instead of me?
Subaru froze at that question, realizing that, maybe, his obsession for the third man’s happiness was making his lover jealous. But things weren’t like that - and he knew that they never were and would never be. He had thought, for a moment in his life, that it should be like that - his lover more like a part-time presence while Shota would be with him, always - but now he knew how wrong he had been.
- No. But if he was here and you were away, I would pray for the other way round.
- Are you sure?
- I’ve never been more sure in my whole life.
A smile, a caress on his skin, and Subaru leaned closer, his hands reaching out for the man’s neck, pulling him close, before kissing him deeply, with all the passion that he had, all those feelings he was carrying inside - and he always was this way, a living tumult of passion and sensations and need and want and anger, all these things melting and making him the one he was. He always was like that, and, thanks to the heavens, he managed to find the perfect person for him. The one who would counterpoint his passion by softness, his anger by smiles, his pain by happiness. They were kind of like the yin and the yang, and yet they were the same on so many levels. They were friends, lovers, soulmates, brothers, bandmates, everything and anything, and Subaru knew that, even with all the emotions inside of him, he would never be able to express all of this with words.
And yet he tried.
- Do you love me?
Subaru smiled against the full and soft lips of his lover.
- Of course I love you, stupid.
- Good, because I can’t live without your love around me.
Later on, when the sun was finally down and the colors were darker and bluer in the sky, they went for a walk on the beach, their feet into the fresh water on the ocean. When they left the next morning, waiting to be erased by the waves, there was a message written in the sand.
