So, Archive Of Our Own is being wonky and not letting me post my full comment for my
Yuletide Gift.... and I just have to comment on my story! :D So here is my comment and my thanks to my Yuletide Writer. Hopefully once all the bugs get worked out of the Archive Commenting I can post it there.
Oh, my Yuletide Author how I love thee! Let me count the ways!
* The characterization of all of the characters was absolutely dead on! Your descriptions of them were perfect! I especially loved the "voice" and descriptions of Rose Red. You just managed to capture her so wonderfully - even as just a secondary character.
* Snow & Bigby's phone conversation. It filled me with so much squee and <3!! Again, the voices were just so very perfect. It was such a domestic and sweet scene. Snow having to stay at home and wishing that Bigby was there with her. Aww. It was just so sweet and so beautifully written. I can't tell you how much little things like that make me happy and fuzzy. Especially since Snow is such a strong, independent woman...it's really cute that she really just wants to have him there.
I especially loved this line...
"He inhales deeply, and she knows he's puffing away on one of those disgusting cigarettes. She wishes silently that he was doing that next to her instead."
Because it's interesting how you find yourself missing even the little quirks about people that you might not like when they're away. I can absolutely see Snow thinking that.
* The Dream. Oh...my...gosh... the dream! It was so perfect! I really don't have enough good things to say! I adore the way that you handled it! You managed to capture just the right amount of sexual tension, love, need, desire, etc. It was so beautiful! I could actually feel Snow's nervousness over having not done this in several centuries and it made my heart melt. Especially when she asked if he would be careful with her. As I said before, Snow is such a strong woman that to see her actually allowing herself to be vulnerable to Bigby just makes me <333!
* I love how you constructed the whole story! That Snow would have that dream - remembering what could possibly be one of the most important moments of her life - but then immediately forget it as soon as she woke up. It worked. So very well! I like that it really doesn't matter to her. She had Bigby with her there now and that's all that matters. And I have a huge thing for one character taking care of another character while they're sick so you hit right on that! It was great! :D
* Eee! A Shakespeare line! I love it! <3 -gives you cookies!-
* The "I missed you" and "Yeah. Me too." while they're all snuggled up at the end? Beautiful. The perfect way to end this story.
LOL! I know this review is as long as the story itself...but I just loved, loved, loved this story! Thank you SO MUCH for writing it! I cannot wait till the author reveal when I can thank you personally! This was absolutely perfect - a WONDERFUL Yuletide gift! :D
