Ben/Alex interaction should totally become canon. This is wonderful and probably the way I see dear Ben going in the show- it will be sad but atleast he can be remebered for being the good guy after all.
Thank you so much for sharing

It's impossible to hate the guy, love is the only option from now on ROFL

I have a friend of mine that is so Anti-Ben it's not even funny. Like...I can't even tease him about it because he will just go off on how evil Ben is and how I only like the weasley villains and stuff like that. It's ridiculous!
I keep telling him "You just wait! In the end, he'll redeem himself. You wait!"
I pray this next episode is the start of that redemption a la Alex.

This was really interesting. I think I have a harsher opinion of Ben than you, so much that I thought he might sacrifice Alex here to "save" her. I do agree she is what brings out his softest side and that was captured so well here. The tone of this was great, the shift between conversation and Ben's thoughts. Alex sounded so young which I think was right because she was so out of her element.

I'm really glad that you found both Ben's softness and Alex' youth as believable. I actually debated heavily over both things when I was writing this.
I didn't want Ben to come off as being too gentle and "mushy" with Alex (which is why I did give him a few moments of sharpness with her) because I that's just not the kind of person he is. But as you say, I really do think of anyone that could bring that side of Ben out, it would be her.
Then with Alex' "younger" sound - we've seen her being the 'tough girl' over the past several episodes...but I think you hit it perfect when you said she is out of her element. I think the trailer for the next episode also showed us that childlike fear and desperation for her father.
Thank you again for reviewing. I'm glad that you liked it. :)

This is so amazing!!!!!!!
This is EXACTLY how I imagine/see/hope to see Ben saving Alex! Hopefully without dying (!!!!!!) because Ben is not allowed to die ever. But yeah! SO MUCH LOVE FOR THISSSS!!!!!

hehe, I am so glad you liked it, darlin. :)
I agree with you completely! Ben is not allowed to die. Ever. He is immortal. lol. Unfortunately, for some reason, that was the only way I could really see to tie all of this fic together. And because I think that too often we see Ben doing this for his own personal (and, admittedly, sometimes selfish) reasons...but I believe, without a doubt, that he would die for Alex.
ack! I want Ben/Alex reconciliation and canon! O.O

I agree with you. I love the idea of Ben as Dad. It warms my heart greatly. And I also agree that I think canon!Ben's version of love to be alot tougher and smart alecky than portrayed here. But somehow, this was the tone that worked for me in the fic...and I think if *anyone* were to bring out that softer side in Ben, it would be Alex.
Greatest character ever! Here, here!

I'm so looking forward to the next ep, BTW. Ben and Alex's relationship has become one of the most interesting parts of the show for me and she is indeed one of Ben's great weaknesses. It should make for good drama to see how the writers deal with Ben fighting/trading for Alex's life. The only thing I'm looking forward to more is the scene when Ben and Juliet finally meet again. That should be explosive.

My goodness. Between Ben & Juliet meeting up again...and Ben saving Alex....this next half of the season is going to just have me squeeing and flailing all over the place. lol.
