From hell and back

The world, I've always been told you never lived until you seen the world. If that was called living, death surely couldn't be any worse. Traveling the world however, I learned alot. Mainly about the Senior Partners, their plans and boy were they interesting. I found myself laughing as I though about them. The appacolype was going to be iteresting ( Read more... )

My hands shook as I walked through the elegantly-appointed halls of Wolfram and Hart. I pride myself on my calm, but I challenge anyone to meet one of the Senior Partners face-to-face without a little shakiness. At least it was Sunday, so the place was mostly empty.

And tomorrow was staff meeting... and I had the cute little remote control in the pocket of my jeans. Linwood would have a very sharp (and spinny!) surprise waiting for him.

All I wanted was a drink, but what I got was Lindsey, sitting in my chair and going through my files. I should have been shocked and pissed but I was too exhausted.

"Hey Lindsey. I see you aren't dead. Congratulations."

Weirdly enough, I had missed him. At least there was some respect in our relationship. That's something I'd missed, although I planned to get it back tomorrow.

"You enjoying my files? And can you give me a reason not to have security throw you and the evil hand into the incinerator, or did you just want to chat?"

Lilah, I don't think nothing in this world could ever make her change. I laugh for a moment then stand up. I looked her up and down, nothing about her has changed. I grab Angel's file and walk over to her.

"Actually I'm finding them very interesting and a chat might do us some good. The whole missing in action probably has you shaking in your feet right about now. Let me guess, have a staff meeting coming up?"

I could see she was shaken up a bit, well as much as Lilah gets shaken up. I motion her over to her seat, then I walk over to the other after I took the whiskey bottle hidden in her bottom cabinet.

"How 'bout a drink?"

"Sure. Glasses are in the cabinet above the sink."

I sat and watched Lindsey narrowly as he poured the drink. He seemed like the same cocky bastard he'd always been. When he came back with my glass (two ice cubes... he remembered how I took it) I shot back half of it in one swig.

"Things have changed since you took off. I guess you saw that in the file. But they haven't changed as much as they're about to. All this stuff..." I waved at the Angel files on my desk, "Is about to become irrelevant."

I smiled a little and sipped my whiskey, "So it's interesting that you should turn up now."

I watched her down her drink without spilling any of it, Now that's talent. I watched her face go from worried to a snicker. Had she recently found out good news that wasn't in the file? I didn't know. Although I do know something she didn't but I wasn't about to inform her just yet.

"Yeah, you know me perfect timing." I take a shot, before looking back to her. "So irrelevant, That must mean Angel has showed his face. Where did you find him? In a dumpster somewhere eating rats?"

I poured another drink, whats a couple more when you're among freinds....friendlike people. I reach over the desk and fill hers up as well. She wasn't saying much yet, but she wasn't warmed up enough.
