You can continue being a slave, or you can live your life. Your choice. It was all about the mission. Angel looked only a little worse for wear after his sojourn in the deep. If he had been left down there any longer there might have been risk of damage to his higher brain functions. Analyzing his responses and sentence structure I found that there ( Read more... )

I glanced at the Thermos, and paused, before glancing back up at Wesley. He kept driving, silent, and I ignored the Thermos for now.

Why had he given me his blood, if he still had this Thermos left? What was he doing?

"You'll be fine in a couple of days," I said quietly. "I didn't take much. If you drink fluids, you should be back to normal in a few days."

I wish. I wished so many things. Immortality would serve my purposes but that was too dangerous even to contemplate.

At least Angel was back. He was a positive factor in the equation. I pulled up in front of the hotel. It was cool outside and the darkness seemed to penetrate the windshield and give everything a gloomy low contrast appearence.

"Thank you for the diagnosis. I advise you avoid trapped spaces and immersion in water for the next few days as well. We're home."

Your home my glance over to his direction seemed to indicate.

"Yeah, 'cause I always wanted to be stuck under the ocean like a failed Houdini," I said, rolling my eyes.

I glanced at the hotel; it hadn't seemed to change since I was last here... but then, I had only been gone three months or so- not like a world of change was just going to happen... but at least it was still standing. Vaguely, I wondered who all was there at the moment, whether anyone had gone out patrolling or not.

I reached for the doorhandle, and nodded to Wesley before I opened the door. It didn't really need to be said, again, that I was grateful- I had never been much for repeating words to begin with. Not to mention, what else was there to say?

"See you," I muttered. And yeah, I probably would. I mean, hell, here we were, in the same city, and he probably hadn't given up demon and vampire hunting. Odds were, I'd see him again... and I wasn't really sure how I felt about that.

We all get what we deserve.

I turned and nodded to Angel as he began to let himself out. "We may perhaps want to plan to coordinate the fight against evil in the future." I reached into my coat and pulled out a card of my group and handed it to them.

I was the one that ended it. Perhaps I might be the one to begin it again. I felt a tingle along the edges of my throat where it had been cut in the past. A remembered hurt. "Say hello to." fred "them for me."
