For me, froyo was a huge upgrade over eclair. Browser performance more than doubled and battery life went up by something ridiculous like a third. Home screen performance is not as good, but I blame cyanogen for making me use ADW Launcher instead of stock...and even that's fixable, it's just a matter of sitting down to do it.

Plus, silent mode can now be configured to include vibration, which was a little thing that bugged me about 2.1.
