The april weekend that was.

Friday night was laaaaaaaazy.

Saturday there was the Space Needle! I could see my house from there! I had a hot dog and an italian soda.
Then there was actually mailing off my taxes, which involved going to my office twice to print things because as it turns out, when you mail off taxes you need to include more stuff than if you were just NETFILEing, which I'm not allowed to do having emmigrated.

Then there was Roller Derby with the Rat City Rollergirls. HOT DIGGITTY DAMN that was fun. I couldn't have picked a better set of bouts to attend as it was two intercity matches. Ordinarily it would have been just the four Seattle teams competing but this time it was the Seattle B team, Rain of Terror vs the Denver Bruising Altitude and then the Rat City All Star Team vs the B.ay A.rea D.erby Girls from San Francisco. The first game was slow enough that I could learn what it was all about, and the second one was much faster paced and a very tense game. In the first half BAD had pulled to a 60:30 lead over the AST. Then in the first 10 minutes, AST clobbered that lead.

BAD won but DAMN it was so close for the girls in green.

Wow. Just wow. I'm going again next month.

After the derby we went up the Needle again to see the view at night. Glowy city nights are lovely. This was followed by Pagliacci's Pizza. The Parma Primo was awesome as per usual.

We returned to my place where I introduced Steph to A Very Harry Potter Musical. This came up because we saw a shirt with a wizard hat over the words "Keep Calm and it's gonna be Totally Awesome." Steph was amused by it.

Sunday was lazy in the morning, I watched 30 Rock and the latest Sanctuary which is finally out of mid season hiatus. They left it on this hideous cliff hanger where everyone was killed. Six impossible things later, they were having breakfast at Milliways, and the day was saved.

At that point I finally got off the couch and went climbing. I started reading Fight Club. The book is wonderful, but I can't help feel that it's spoiled having seen the movie and knowing the twist. No matter, it's fun to read anyway.

Upon my return, Steph and I climbed up Queen Anne Hill to find a board game shop. I haven't been up the hill yet. In all my time in Seattle, I've been a lazy bum and never did it. I should have done it earlier, since the Board Game shop is fantastic, and is kitty corner to a Tea Shop. Not a cafe, a tea shop. This is what is made of win.

I bought a copy fo the current best seller (and store recommendation) Innovation. It's a fun game and it took use a little while to piece together how the game works. I suspect I won because of those earlier mis-steps. They really gave me a huge edge. Now at least we can play it again without messing it up. My only question involves the player selection algorithm. Does the non-first player keep their card out, or does it go back into their hand?

After the tea and game it was around dinner time, so we wandered the main street and found a chocolate shop, called Chocolopolis. The rhythm to say it is not unlike "Snuffleupagus" . It has chocolate from all around the world! I bought some columbian milk chocolate and a Milk Chocolate Bunny.

After the shop we went into a nice italian place for pasta. we had some Calamari Rossa to start, I had a Linguini Carbonarra, and she had a baked Viti of some kind. It had steak and sausage in it. Everything was awesome. We both had Italian sodas, she had blackberry&cherry, and I had a Blueberry Peach w/cream.

So very tasty! I think I'm going to get some italian soda flavours. I love the things. The carbonation isn't as crappy like in Coke or Pepsi etc.

For desert we went back up the road to a frozen Yogurt place called Menchies, which I have dubbed the best thing ever. They have lots of flavours, toppings and sauces. And aside from if you wanted a waffle bowl or not, the price is entirely by weight. That means you can combine and use as many topping kinds as you want. I was in sugar high heaven. Best. Thing. EVER. So much so I exclaimed this to the cashier, which may have lead to flirting. I have no idea. I can't tell these things to save my bacon.

We ate our frogurt and walked down the hill, and had finished it by the time we hit the Quality Food Centre to pick up some wine. We went home, chilled the (white) wine, and drank it.

I was also obsessively checking the Portal 2 site. WANT!
