The Wheelchair is Go!

*Toji stares at himself in the mirror in the room he and Shinji were in. He sees himself, but in a hand drawn wheelchair. His arm has been repaired completely, his leg is still gone. He is wearing shorts, but the one over his missing leg, which isn't even a stump really as it was broken off rather close to his hip. At least he still has enough

*At some point in his journey he'll run into Cagalli, who's not going anywhere in particular and is actually pretty bored.

When she spies Toji... well, there's a little worry in the back of her mind for him. Okay, a lot. Someone like Toji losing a leg permanently just... it's pretty awful, but by now she can deal with it in ways other than pitying him at least. So instead, she brightens up because despite the injury, Toji's out and about on his own power.*

Uh... *Doesn't make greeting him too terribly comfortable though.* Hey Toji.

Oh hey... Cagalli right?

*Toji says, his impressions of the Orb princess have been all over the place. She was there when he... well... he doesn't like to think about that. She was also there when he... well... when the Eva. All of this combines into making him perhaps uncharacteristically bashful around her.*

*Cagalli was quite aware that Toji was a bit different around her. She still wasn't quite sure why he was, but there wasn't much she could do about it, even she preferred the 'normal' Toji.*

So... you feeling okay?

I'm not in the hospital anymore. I was getting bored out of my mind.

*He tries to turn his chair to face her and ends up bumping into her shin.*

Oh man! Sorry.

I see they let you out already.

Finally. It was getting really boring!

*He wheels around. Shiro looks so much taller from here. Everyone did really, it just struck him somehow with Shiro.*

*He chuckles*

I suppose I can see where you're coming from.

In any case. Welcome back.

Back? What's that supposed to mean?

*Toji doesn't really know what Shiro is playing at. But this laughing and pretending everything is okay business needs to fucking stop, like yesterday.*

-Shinji is hesitant to approach. Still not feeling fantastic himself, he at least makes an effort to smile at Toji and wave him down... err, figuratively speaking.-

Like I got fucked up by an angel and spent two weeks in the hospital.

*Toji's voice is clearly bitter. But its not really directed at Shinji.*

-Shinji rolls with it and just shrugs, his smile faltering just a little. He's clearly trying to lighten the mood.-

You don't say? I've been feeling that way myself lately. And my roommate was a class act, lemme tell ya.

[Mess Hall. Shiro wasn't sure if he was happy or not to be eating here. It wasn't great, but food was food, and he was starving. He was also sandwiched on both sides, with hungry soldiers behind him and a wheel chair bound kid in front of him.]

[Man... what a sad sight. Not in the pitiable sense, no, just... unfortunate.]

*The mess hall was terrible to navigate. He could barely fit between the things and he was totally embarrassed about holding up the line.*

[And now the cafeteria staff was handing him off a tray of food.]

[Shiro watched with some concern; the guy was really having some trouble. He never really thought about how hard a wheel chair might be.]

[He wasn't thinking too much about it now either, though. He took his own tray and.. tried to wait patiently, chewing on a dinner roll while standing behind Toji.]

*That he was. This would be one of those times when having an electric wheelchair would be much preferable. At least then he could balance the tray with one hand and move the chair with the other. Man this sucked completely. And everyone was staring at him too. Mostly looks of annoyance until he noticed them, then pity. The pity was worse than the annoyance. He was annoyed.*
