So I've finally found some time to get around to this (mostly because the dining commons don't open for breakfast on weekends grr). It's been a busy few days, but in a good way. I finally got back on Saturday, and it's a sign of how much I've gotten used to Taiwan that it felt so strange to be home. For one thing, the silence - I have to keep slapping my head to convince myself that I'm not going deaf. I went to the World Games Closing Ceremony in Kaohsiung last weekend, and it was a pretty interesting experience. Not so much the performances, which were decent but not extraordinary, but just being at an international event of that scale ( Read more... )

I got my wisdom teeth pulled on Monday, so that's the reason why I haven't been on AIM, FB, Gmail, etc. etc. the past few days. Monday after the operation was literally just sleep -> wake up -> eat -> barf, rinse and repeat. I could not keep anything down that day, not even water, and my stomach's still recovering from being completely empty for 24 ( Read more... )

This past weekend Cupertino was host to the 2009 US National Wushu Team Trials. Every two years, the US sends a team of ten athletes to compete at the International Wushu Competition, and this year those representatives were chosen right here, just a few minutes away at the De Anza College main gym ( Read more... )

So far summer has been better than awesome - no studying for SATs, no reading 16 chapters of Bailey, no college apps... sure, I'm reviewing Calc a bit in preparation for Math 53, but that's nothing compared to everything else I've had to do the past few years.
