It's a great song (because John Cale is a fucking god). Also, curiously, the VU version is sampled on "Fatal" by RZA, which is also pretty good and is on the soundtrack to Blade: Trinity. Small world, eh?
Can't think what book it's based on, although I'm sure I've heard that somewhere - our pal the Marquis?
Its oddly addictive to listen to. Ah the Marquis de Sade isn’t to thank for this particular depravity, though he brought the world plenty. This song is based off a book of the same name written by Leopold von Sacher-Masoch, whos name we delightful got the term masochism, him and the Marquis are like two deviant peas in a pod. Its called fiction but pretty much details his life, and has a female dominatrix who dresses nearly entirely in furs, decadent.
Well, I had a feeling it had to be either the "S" or the "&M"...
There's an e-book and an audiobook of it up for free on Archive.org, by the way, but it really seems like the sort of thing one reads in paperback, preferably in a very hot bath (claw foot tub, of course) with a very small glass of very cold Kirsch or expensive vodka on cracked ice.
I need something good to read, actually, now that I've finished NaNo - all the things that I've been waiting to read all month seem a bit unappealing now that I can read whatever I want. Typical.
Iv orded both Venus in furs, and the Marquis complete works, you can of course borrow both when Iv finished reading them, I will try and not drop them in the bath.
