Sakura Tree
“You should tell him - no, yell it - during the graduation!” Take grinned, nudging on Hayato’s shoulder.
Take was happy for his best friend. The 18 year old deserved love. On the other side of the coffee table, Tsuchiya clasped his hands together.
“Ryu-chan! I love you!” he mimicked Hayato’s voice loudly.
“Yeah! Yeah! Like that!” Take nodded.
Hayato, who rarely blushed, grew a faint color of pink. Then, he hit Tsuchiya on the head and softly pushed Take aside. He began to regret his decision to tell his friends.
“I knew I shouldn’t have said anything…” he muttered under his breath.
Hyuuga snorted, “Have you two met Ryu? He’d kill Hayato if he did that.”
Take pouted, “Yeah…I guess you’re right….”
“Do it after graduation” Hyuuga suggested.
Hayato sighed to himself. He was thankful for his friends (although still regretting telling them), but graduation was less than week away. How was he supposed to tell Ryu? The red-hair would probably take it as a joke…
After bidding their goodbyes to Yankumi, the five friends walked together, proud smiled on their bruised faces.
“We did it!” Take happily exclaimed, “We really did it!”
“We did,” Tsuchiya nodded.
“Now what do we do?” Hyuuga asked.
The three friends turned to Hayato and Ryu. Take slightly nudged on Hayato, pushing him closer to the red-hair. Hyuuga and Tsuchiya waited for Hayato to tell them off so he confess to Ryu. All the sudden, Take stopped.
“Uwaa~ look at that Sakura tree! It’s so beautiful! Let’s go there!” Take pointed at the light pink tree in the distant.
Ryu frowned at him, “Why?”
“Because it’s pretty, silly~” Take linked his arm with Ryu’s, dragging him closer to the tree.
Once they arrived under the tree, tension grew between four of the friends. Ryu, who was oblivious to the thoughts of his friends, forced a cough to break the silence. Take looked between Tsuchiya and Hyuuga. He nodded once. It was time to go to plan B.
“I have to go to work,” Hyuuga suddenly said.
“I thought they gave you a day off,” Ryu frowned again.
“Nope, sorry,” Hyuuga smiled, he winked at Hayato and walked off.
Then, Take clapped his hands, “Well, I better be off too.”
“Why are you leaving?” Ryu raised his eyebrows, eyeing the shorter boy suspiciously.
“My mom promised to cook all my favorite foods for dinner!” Take grinned.
“But it’s only-”
“Bye!” Take grinned, ignoring Ryu, happily running away.
Ryu turned to Tsuchiya, crossing his arms, “And what’s your excuse?”
Tsuchiya shrugged, “I don’t have an excuse.”
“So it’s just the three-”
“But I do need to go to the restroom,” Tsuchiya interrupted.
Ryu rolled his eyes as Tsuchiya walked back to the road. Then, he turned towards his best friend. Some of the sakura petal flew from the tree.
“You haven’t said a word since we left Yamaguchi,” the red-hair stated, “Are you going to leave me too?”
“Ehh? No!” Hayato shook his head.
“Ok, now what?” Ryu asked.
A gust of wind blew more sakura petals around the two. For the second time that week, Hayato’s face became pink. He watched Ryu’s express softening. The calming quietness was nice. Hayato gulped and locked eyes with Ryu. It was now or never. The atmosphere - although tacky in Hayato’s mind - was prefect.
“Ryu…” Hayato started.
“Yeah?” Ryu tilted his head.
Hayato cleared his throat, “W-well, for the last few weeks, I’ve been having these feelings and they refuse to go away… what I’m trying to say is…I love you.”
Hayato watched as Ryu’s express stay the same. His heart was racing, waiting for the red-hair to say something back. After a few minutes, the other sighed and rolled his eyes.
“Took you long enough.”
“Haa?” Hayato blinked, not expecting that respond.
Ryu finally smiled, “You’ve been so obvious since I returned to school.”
“O-oh really?” Hayato sheepishly smiled back.
Ryu nodded. Then, Hayato softly kissed Ryu on the cheek. Ryu’s cheeks grew red, he looked at him.
“You’re not even waiting for my reply?”
Hayato smiled, “I know you like me~”
“Well, what if I don’t?” Ryu eyed him.
“Oh you do,” Hayato took a step closer to Ryu.
Ryu tried to teasingly push Hayato away, but Hayato was faster. He caught Ryu’s wrists and crashed his lips against the red-hair’s. The other fought for control, but lost after Hayato slipped his tongue into his mouth. Ryu slightly moaned, the kiss made him weak at the knees. After a couple of minutes, they pulled apart for air. Hayato finally released Ryu’s wrists, he was grinning from ear to ear.
“Well?”
“I love you too,” Ryu quietly said.
“Ehh? What did you say~?” Hayato teased.
“I know you heard me!” Ryu furiously blushed.
“You’re so cute when you blush Ryu!” Hayato exclaimed.
“Shut up!” Ryu replied, embarrassed.
Hayato laughed and proceed kissing his new lover.
