Give yourself about a month "read time" from the point at which you put up flyers. Find a location that will allow your book-club to meet comfortably. If you find a public place for it, find out if there's a comm. you can put ads up in. You can either choose your own reading list or ask potential members to make suggestions when they get in touch with you.

The best way to get something like that started is good old-fashioned flyer/postering. Go anywhere you think the sort of people you want to get involved in this would be, including bars, clubs, libraries, media/bookstores, etc.

To start, I'd go with something short-but-sweet, exemplary of the type of literature you want to discuss, and easily found on regular bookstore shelves. (I'd go with something like, say, "Snow Crash" or "Damnation Game") I'd suggest starting with something you haven't read, but good luck with that. In fact, good luck anyway. :D
