Transferring from big banks

It's taken awhile, but I've transferred most of my bank dealings to a local credit union and have closed out one of two big bank accounts. Still working on moving everything over to the credit union.

Congratulations!

It is kind of weird with our credit union, because there are 5 locations and none of them are any closer than 2 miles. I was with BofA for years and it's weird to look back, knowing those branches are EVERYWHERE.

Still, the national trend toward going local is really exciting, and I think that will bring about a lot of changes. Our bank does text banking and we really easily got local insurance through them, too. Hopefully the smartphone app, etc. is coming for yours. :)

Hi C, Oh, I definitely know what you're talking about, HOWEVER, here in New Mexico they don't have Chase Bank, so I'm pretty much 100 percent online. No branches to go to. Northeastern Indiana kind of got me ready for this, because the closest Chase Bank was 30 miles away.

I'm still a member of what is now known as DFCU.

Yes! I'm hoping there's a smartphone app in my future. Oh, yeah, and the insurance (and loan) discounts are always a perk. :D
