I was a sophomore in college when Kansas' Leftoverture came out. I practically wore it out -- under the headphones with the volume cranked to 10 (Nigel Tuffnel wasn't even a twinkle in Christopher Guest's eye then) - writing like a maniac, getting stoned, writing more, occasionally waking up naked beneath friends' dining room tables -- and so on. Ah ha ha. I was nine when it released. I remember 'Wayward Son' on the radio, and a few years later it became 'the' song that made me think of Vietnam and the soldiers there. I don't know why, exactly, but i was obsessed with that war pretty early on in my life.

My bf at the time and i would sit and listen to every Kansas album her sister/she owned, over and over. Kansas, Rush, Styx. Good times. :)
