Westward, ho...

and yes, you may call me ho.

But not a hoarder, which is what I felt like when the 1-800-Got Junk truck pulled into my driveway on Monday. ( time for a few small repairs, she said )

the road so far

It took all my reserve, but not once did I mention Hoarders or apologize for the mind-bending volume of stuff they hauled away.

Whenever I think of my place as being a mess when someone's in it to fix or deliver something, I always remind myself that I'm sure these people have seen a lot worse in their line of work!

I was completely unprepared for how hard it was to just be nice and smile, not comment or get reassurance -- but it was worth it!

whoooot!

go YOU!

I'm so happy for both of you and so very excited for your move!

*twirls you lots*

when we move this spring (hopefully) i'm giving away EVERYTHING but our beds, clothes and computers. Everything else goes. The place we're hopefully going to be renting already has furniture and that's just a bunch fewer things that I'll have to get rid of whenever it comes time to move to colorado.

:)

*luffs all over you*

OMG! I have everything crossed for you...time for new digs. And before you know it, you'll be packing up the menagerie and heading west!

Purge today, head for the mountains tomorrow. :-D

Most excellent. It's amazing the amount of stuff you accumulate, isn't it?

It was amazing. Two brand new toilet seats? WHY? It truly boggled my mind.

That's a huge accomplishment. I can't even get up the energy to clean out my clothes closet so I am very much impressed and envious. Good luck with the walkthrough!!

We're so nervous -- the realtor has been through once and embraced the horror. Hopefully this time she'll be pleasantly surprised. And why, Deb, did I feel the need to move across country when I'm old and achy???? Better than only dreaming about it, right?

I think everyone needs to move every few years just so they can cut down on the junk they hoard. (Yes, I used the H word.)

It's been 20 years for us. The last time we moved countries. We ditched everything but for clothes, the kids toys, linens, and hubby's tools.

I hate to think what's in my bulging cupboards now.

Go you for getting rid.

Wow...a new country move takes so much work and planning! That's an impressive feat. Just changing states is jangling my nerves.

After the junk men left I looked around and wished I had them take it all. :)

I know. You wish you had got rid of it all.

Moving countries with a 5 and 7 year old can be fun...not!

I, of course, had lots of lunches and girls' days out to do, leaving all my friends behind, what else is a girl to do? That left hubby to do all the packing up of the household, no crockery but the family heirlooms, some kitchen appliances, and nothing else other than what I listed before. And still we had 76 boxes air freighted. Most were hubby's tools, he has a lot of electronic equipment.

I sold all our furniture, put on two garage sales, and the rest went to the rubbish dump.

We hadn't even sold our house - that went three months later, for cash, which was a big relief.

I figure moving states is the same as moving countries. Given the option of moving cities I asked, "Why don't we move to another country?" And we did.

:~)))
