Title: Worries
Fandom/Pairing: Blue Bloods; Danny and Linda
Summary: A late night talk between Danny and Linda post-2X7

Danny took off his shoes before going into the bedroom, trying to be as quiet as he could. He knew that Linda had gone to bed hours ago, had told her to when he called her earlier, and he didn't really feel like talking tonight. When he sat on the end of the bed to take off his pants, the light behind him turned on. He sighed deeply and continued getting ready for bed, not looking back to see his wife.

“What happened?” Linda asked.

“Exactly what I thought would happen: something bad. I left her alone for five minutes, Linda. Five minutes. The perp didn't make the appointment and so we were getting ready to leave. They came in and she never even knew what hit her. I mean, I was able to get there in time. They just drugged her and she was able to fight them off, but it came close.”

Linda moved forward, putting her arms around Danny. “I'm sorry. Is she okay?”

“Yeah, she's gonna be okay. She's a little shaken up and they're keeping her overnight, but... it could have gone so differently.”

“It didn't, though. You were there, Danny.”

“I can't lose another partner. It wasn't her being a woman... or God forbid Jaime being a man, which he isn't, by the way, he's a kid. It's about putting her in the line of danger. I'm just overprotective, you know.” Danny rubbed a hand across his face, remembering the argument from earlier.

“I know. I didn't mean to make it into a sexist issue.”

“It's not, either, you know. I worry. God knows, I worry. It's not okay for Jaime to be going undercover for an organized crime family. That's the last thing I wanted. I worry about him every single time he goes out, and he makes sure to call me as soon as he knows he's not being followed. I'm just so scared, Linda. I can't lose someone else I love.” His voice was weighed down by the sorrow and the worry he felt. “I don't like any of it.”

“I know,” Linda said, rubbing her hand across his chest. “Baby, I know.”
