Yeah I saw that on the news today too. Pretty messed up. The first place winner gets $5000. That makes me puke all over myself.

You nobs! I saw a special on this shit like 2 years ago on espn2 I think after the big tourney then they had the winner of the tourney on Conan one night. He won using the avalanche. (rock, rock, rock in a 3 set match) My favorite part about this sport is the sick ass names the series of moves have. Avalanche is the best but the paper doll is pretty cool. I think its paper paper scissors or the other way around cant remember.

The amount that players of any sport get paid is directly related to how much money people are willing to pay to watch the sport being played.. since so many people love playing basketball and baseball, those that get chosen to play on a national level get paid millions of dollars.. even with chess, at the highest levels they get paid hundreds of thousands of dollars (although at an international level, not national).. the fact that the $5000 came from somewhere must say something at least.. who are we to cast judgment on what kind of game people play? It is their time not ours.. we wouldn't like it if someone came along and said whatever we were enjoying was a stupid waste of time.. and they'd most likely be correct too.. ~ Stephen
