One of the interesting questions is at what point does a character become a "monster"? Veruca, for example -- she could be considered a person (like Oz), but as you say, she chooses to become a monster because that's, like, so cool man. (Wait, she doesn't talk like that. I'm using 50's cool lingo. Daddy-o.) "Hipster doofus" = Cosmo Kramer ref?

Um, okay a friend has to use my laptop so I can't comment more today for now.

This is wonderful analysis. Really really good. Specially liked what you said about Veruca - I always found her VERY threatening and I couldn't figure out why...

No, emotionally threatening. Willow's insecurity round her really hit a nerve with me. And most of the time I really don't like Willow.

Ah, yes. She plays Willow's insecurities like a maestro. One of several characters to do so, but there was something so sinister about how nonchalant Veruca is about it.
