March - bedtime story

Ever since Connor was old enough to talk and know what sorts of things to ask about, he's asked questions about pretty much anything a boy his age could think of to ask and then some. When he was a baby and even before he knew to ask, I always told him stories of things back in Los Angeles. The way things were there, the people we left behind, things and places I wanted to show him, but there were so many times I talked about Darla. As much as he seems curious about the other things I have to tell him, he never grows tired of hearing stories of his mother and the times we spent together.

The stories aren't sugar-coated. He knows what I am and the things I've done. Just as he knows who exactly his mother was and the things we did together as vampires. We're going to end up back in Los Angeles someday, I'm sure of that, and there are other ways for him to research where he's come from and exactly who his parents are. Not to mention, I'm sure I could think of a few who would be able to fill him in on a few details as well. Not to say that I go into details, but there's no reason to tell him false stories just to make his mother or myself into something we're both definately not.

Somethings likes to hear over and over again and I tell him. Whether if it's in a whisper while we're watching out for the demons around us, cooking something to eat, or sitting and resting in one of the caves or under a tree.

My favorite is telling him how Darla knocked me out and left me to Holtz. Of course, she showed up in time to get me out of there, but the look on Connor's face while I tell it always makes me smile.
