one of my high school bff's went to the prom w/ a light-skinned bedreaded black dude named alfred (she called him 'cosmic alfred', irrc - absolutely might have met in a bookstore or cafe) & she ended up kind of trying to escape from him the whole night b/c he was weirding her out. this would've been like '96 or '97. i realize it's unlikely that it was the same dude but reading this entry was extra-surreal on account of the possibility that MAYBE IT WAS HIM AFTER ALL.

whoa -- no, I think it's likely, given th time period and th relative rarity of th name. You don't know his last name, do you? (Don't say it here.) If it's him and if she never found out what happened ... yeah, prom is an intense memory even for people whose date was not criminally nuts
no, i don't remember his last name, unfortunately. i may never have known it, actually; they didn't date for v. long & she went WAAAAAAAY off him after the prom. i srsly doubt that she has any knowledge of his subsequent activities.
i only hung out w/ the dude the one time but i didn't find him particularly creepy or sinister or "off" in any major way - just yr garden variety weirdo - so my mind is kind of blown right now!!
as you can probably tell this is a topic that interests melostcosmonautJanuary 4 2013, 15:06:41 UTC
are you still in touch w/ her? I'd love to get th dish ... Anyhow yeah, most of th time he seemed pretty normal weird to me. Th story above extracts th weirdest details from my interactions w/ him; there may have been other things that other people noticed, but certainly nobody I knew predicted homicidal tendencies. That's bipolarity -- one day you're fine, den you smoke th wrong weed or get set off by something else and suddenly you're wielding th power of Grayskull

th problem is that there are a lot of options but none that combine th best features of el gay: nested kommentude; ability to present a lot of diff kind of media in one post; easy community formation; and th encouragement of creative and original posts instead of reblogging
I've already got tumblr, twitter, FB, but what I do here on el gay cannot be replicated there
Dreamwidth seems to work pretty well, but hardly anybody I know is using that
I'll probably try different sites and different styles of posting before settling down in a new place
