Edward,

I hope you remember enough German to read this. I know you have not used it much, but I feel like it is not safe to write this letter in Amestrian, because there are too many people who might try and read it to try and gain information. I just hope that this letter will in fact reach you someday.

I can never thank you enough for your gift to me. The two little clockwork figures of us... As if the letter was not enough, when I saw what you had made, it very nearly brought me to tears. I love you too, Edward, and I always will, you know that. And I am glad to hear that wherever you are, you are safe for now. I really miss you a lot. We hardly had much time together right before you left, as I had been gone... And I understand, now that you are on the run or in hiding, possibly, that... That you and I may not see each other again. I hope that is not the case, of course, and I would be heartbroken if I found you were lost to me, but I try to understand your situation all the same. I just want you to be safe and happy wherever you are. I wish you would come back to me like you said you would, but if you cannot, I will have to do my best to accept that.

I wish you luck, and I hope you are happier now that you have found your freedom.

Love,
Alfons

Herr Renfield, can I ask a favor of you?
