Just a rant about incompetent people

What the hell do people not understand about putting down payments on costume commissions!?!? No, I will not start on your costume if you haven't paid me. Because in the end if I make it out of my own pocket expecting to be reimbursed and you don't, that's money out of my pocket plus precious hours of my life that I want back. Time = money...DUH ( Read more... )

-petpet- Dood, tell 'em. Sadly, that's just the way you have to go about commissions sometimes. I'm going to start having people pay me before I start on their art commissions to avoid being scammed. Have had good luck so far, but I've only done art for online friends so far.

So... like... what do you charge for costume commissions, anyhow? XD

-purrs and squirms- Thanks! I guess people are fickle and that's the way it is.

It depends on the costume and what accessories you want, honestly. I use alternate materials sometimes too depending on the prices people are willing to pay for quality. I guess an example would be a Sephiroth costume that's on my to do list. I'm charging $150 for it since the main materials I'm using on the trenchcoat are vinyl and maybe a common material for lining, but it could be as much as $500 if I used say, real leather and some type of silk or satin.

One reason I don't think I'll ever do a commission unless it's direct contact with the person. IE I see them face to face and can size them and have them there and make sure they pay. Stupids bums.
